GENERAL

1. Hooks with safety latches must be used whenever practical.

2. Bending at right angles to the plane of a hook is a sure sign of overload on the hook.

3. If more than 10% spread is measured in the throat of the hook it must be discarded.

HOOKS INSPECTION

1. The distance AC must be equal to the distance AB & pop marked when hook is new.
2. The distance AB and AC must be equal.
3. When the measurement AB exceeds AC by 10% the hook must be discarded.
4. Special alloy steel hooks can be damaged when "pop" marked. Distortion is monitored by measuring the throat opening with inside callipers.
5. Hooks to be "pop" marked as shown (where possible).
